How do
I read it?
Coins are
graded from Good (G1) through Mint State 70 (MS70). On the
front page of this site you will see pictures of coins. The
first picture is a picture of a MS coin
and would be considered a Mint State 60 or better. The
second picture down is a AU coin
(Almost Uncirculated). The third picture down is a VG coin
(Very Good). Compare the coin you
have with the picture, then goto the detailed morgan price
list to look up the price. You will see
a bid and a ask price. The bid and the ask price is the
price at which your coin is currently
being traded on the open market.
What do you pay?
I pay
generally between the bid and the ask price. Many factors
determine price. A main determining factor is if your coin
has been professionally graded or
not. The three main grading companies are PCGS, NGC, and
ANACS. These are considered
the top three grading companies and are used widely. There
is no standardization for grading
coins so the grades will vary from company to company. Each
company has there own grading
standards which means the same coin can be graded
differently by each company. Grading is
considered by many people as being a art. This being said
use the detailed Morgan and Peace
price list as a way to get a general idea of what your coin
is worth.
Good luck and I hope you find that you have some valuable
coins. Scott |
